ABC radio – Looking death in the eye

ABC Local Radio in Tasmania has started a series of very valuable and moving interviews on facing death.  Joel Rheinberger is responsible for the interviews and  conducts them with great sensitivity.

As Joel says in his introduction to the series, death has been in the news for him recently, both personally and professionally.  As a result he has started asking himself some tough questions, including “how do I want to die?”. As he also says: “Strangely enough, dealing with these questions has given me some real comfort.”

To date, there are three interviews on the website, one with a Buddhist monk, one with Professor Michael Ashby and another with someone who could die any day.  More will be added as the week goes on.  We recommend you listen each day on the ABC Statewide Mornings program or go to http://www.abc.net.au/local/stories/2013/06/27/3791050.htm?&section=news for downloads.

And if you want to take action as a result of hearing the series, go to the material on end-of-life planning on our website for advice and assistance.
