California success – Governor signs the Act

Fabulous news – the Californian Governor, Jerry Brown, has signed the End of life Option Act passed by both houses of the Parliament in September. Not only that but according to this article he has also said:

“The crux of the matter is whether the state of California should continue to make it a crime for a dying person to end his life no matter how great his pain and suffering.” and “I do not know what I would do if I were dying in prolonged and excruciating pain. I am certain, however, that it would be a comfort to be able to consider the options afforded by this bill. And I wouldn’t deny that right to others.”

Governor Brown is a Catholic former seminarian, and clearly one who practises Christianity with compassion and respect for others.  It’s time our ‘Christian’ politicians did the same!

In the last post we explain the significance of the Californian decision.  This is a great boost to our campaign for a new voluntary assisted dying Bill.  We hope to report more news about this very soon.
