Keep up your expressions of support for the Voluntary Assisted Dying Bill 2013 – still some hours to go! The debate on the Bill will continue later today, probably after 3.00 but uncertain at present (webcast ).
Send a message to these MPs – Adam Brooks, Mark Shelton and Elise Archer – that you expect them to exercise their conscience to show understanding, compassion and respect for those ending their lives with intolerable and unrelievable suffering and who have run out of other options.
The final vote will be won if a single Liberal member of the House of Assembly demonstrates this and votes accordingly. The least we should be able to expect is that they support a detailed debate on each of the sections of the Bill. This will give the opportunity for those who’ve indicated they’ll be voting against it can explain in detail why they think it will threaten ‘the vulnerable’ as they so patronisingly and disrespectfully describe people who are elderly or with disabilities. They can also explain why they believe Tasmanian doctors will behave so carelessly, incompetently, illegally and/or with malicious intent. We’ll bring you details of the comments made when we get Hansard for the debate.
