More damage to good people

Yet another example of the terrible damage being done to good people by the absence of a voluntary assisted dying law.  How many more will it take for the hearts and minds of politicians and doctrinaire religious campaigners to be prised open?

This article from the ABC in WA reports on the death by suicide of  75-year-old Clive Deverall, the former executive director of the WA Cancer Council and former president of Palliative Care WA.  The article reports that he took his life on March 11 after suffering for two decades from a rare form of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.  That was the only option left.  How much better it could have been if he’d been able to receive the assisted dying he wished for and lobbied for, because he knew from his medical experience and his personal experience how essential it is.
